Where it came from
Curse of Surveillance was originally printed as part of the Innistrad: Midnight Hunt set in 2021, a gothic horror-themed expansion for Magic: The Gathering. The set centers on the plane of Innistrad, where the inhabitants struggle to stave off an eternal night. The card features artwork by Wisnu Tan, who emphasizes the oppressive, watchful atmosphere inherent to the set's narrative of encroaching darkness and paranoia.
The '46s' collector number denotes this specific version as a promotional release, often distributed through game store events or premium product bundles. Like other cards in the 'Curse' cycle, it is designed to mechanically simulate the creeping dread of the Innistrad environment, rewarding players for carefully observing and manipulating the game state. It has been well-received by players interested in Commander and other casual formats for its synergy with decks focused on card draw and value generation.
