Where it came from
Curse of the Nightly Hunt was originally released in the 2011 set Innistrad, designed to capture the gothic horror aesthetic of the plane. It functions as a multiplayer-focused enchantment that forces creatures to attack an opponent other than the controller, serving as a tactical tool to disrupt board stalls and encourage aggression in Commander games. The card’s design reflects the set's top-down approach to horror tropes, leaning into themes of manipulation and chaotic transformation.
This specific printing originates from the 2018 Commander Anthology Volume II, a curated collection designed to provide players with access to popular decks and thematic staples from previous years. The artwork, illustrated by Greg Staples, maintains the unsettling, atmospheric tone of the original release while fitting the stylistic requirements of the Anthology's unified presentation. Upon its inclusion in this set, it was received as a functional, flavorful inclusion for deck builders looking to refine their political play in multiplayer formats.
