Where it came from
Cut a Deal was released as part of the Marvel Super Heroes Commander deck for Magic: The Gathering, which debuted in 2024. This card serves as a thematic inclusion within the Universes Beyond collaboration, designed to integrate iconic Marvel Comics aesthetics and mechanics into the established tabletop gaming framework. It reflects the collaborative effort between Wizards of the Coast and Marvel to bring classic narrative archetypes from the comic book medium into a structured multiplayer format.
The card features artwork that emphasizes the collaborative and often precarious alliances found within the Marvel Universe. The design team focused on creating mechanics that mirror political negotiations and strategic trade-offs, encouraging interaction between players. As a modern addition to the Commander landscape, the card has been received as a functional tool for group-hug or political deck archetypes, valued for its ability to generate card advantage while fostering table diplomacy.
