The artwork was commissioned by the artist Daarken, known for his dark and visceral aesthetic within the fantasy genre. In conceptualizing the creature, the artist focused on a spectral, undead figure emerging from the shadows of Ravnica's subterranean levels, aiming to capture a sense of relentless, cyclical persistence.
