What it does
Flying
Whenever this creature deals combat damage to a player, that player exiles cards from the top of their library until they exile an instant or sorcery card. You may cast that card without paying its mana cost. Then that player puts the exiled cards that weren't cast this way on the bottom of their library in a random order.

Where it came from
Dazzling Sphinx was released in 2021 as part of the Commander 2021 card set, specifically within the Silverquill Statement deck. The card was designed to support the set's focus on political intrigue and social dynamics, mechanics that define the Silverquill college of the Strixhaven School of Mages. As a blue-aligned creature with a focus on manipulating the library, it serves as a utility piece intended to provide card advantage and tactical board presence within the multiplayer Commander format.
The artwork for the card was created by illustrators Slawomir Maniak and Igor Kieryluk, who captured the regal and enigmatic nature of the sphinx entity. The design reflects the aesthetic of the Arcavios plane, blending traditional sphinx motifs with the academic and scholarly visual language of Strixhaven. Upon its release, the card was received as a solid inclusion for decks focusing on library interaction and evasion, valued by players for its ability to generate consistent value during combat encounters.
