Where it came from
Dictate of Erebos was originally released in the 2014 Magic: The Gathering set Journey into Nyx, themed around the Greek-inspired plane of Theros. As an enchantment representing the edicts of Erebos, the god of the dead, the card functions as a powerful control piece in multiplayer formats by punishing opponents whenever the controller's own creatures perish.
The Secret Lair version, featuring collector number 1713, belongs to a series of specialized reprints that offer alternative artistic interpretations of iconic cards. This specific iteration was curated to align with the unique, stylized aesthetics characteristic of the Secret Lair platform, providing players with a visually distinct alternative to the original printing while maintaining the card's mechanical integrity within the game.
