Where it came from
Divine Visitation was first introduced in the Guilds of Ravnica expansion set released in 2018, designed to represent the aesthetic and mechanical identity of the Boros Legion. The card captures the high-fantasy ethos of the plane of Ravnica, focusing on the transformation of humble creature tokens into powerful angels. Its design reflects the strategic synergy typical of the Boros color identity, rewarding players for flooding the battlefield with small units that subsequently upgrade into a formidable aerial force.
The Ravnica Remastered version, released in 2024, features updated border treatments and art curation meant to highlight the most iconic cards from Ravnica's history. The illustration for the card, originally by Johannes Voss, emphasizes a radiant, ethereal quality that aligns with the divinity-themed mechanics of the card. Upon its debut, the card was widely received as a cornerstone for token-based strategies in Commander and casual formats due to its unique and impactful ability to fundamentally shift board states.
