Lore

Why it matters

This mythic card stands out as a powerful centerpiece for decks focused on token generation, fundamentally altering the value of every creature created. By transforming small, fragile tokens into formidable flying guardians, it shifts the momentum of the board state and forces opponents to contend with a recurring aerial threat.

Provenance

Where it came from

Divine Visitation was first introduced in the 2018 Magic: The Gathering set Guilds of Ravnica, featuring artwork by the artist Jason Felix. The card was designed as a powerful enchantment representing the influence of the plane’s angels, specifically created to transform creature tokens into 4/4 flying vigilance angels, which significantly shifts the board state in favor of the player.

The version from Ravnica Remastered, released in 2024, serves as a retrospective reprint that updates the card’s frame while maintaining the original mechanics that defined its impact on the Commander and Standard formats. This release was intended to provide long-time players with a polished aesthetic update, honoring the card's enduring popularity within white-aligned creature-token strategies.
