Where it came from
Dragon Mage was originally released in the 2002 Scourge set, designed as a rare creature that embodied the chaotic, high-cost power style typical of that era of Magic: The Gathering. The card allows players to discard their hand and draw seven cards upon dealing combat damage, a disruptive effect that has made it a staple in Commander formats for its ability to refill hands and reset board states.
The Jumpstart 2022 printing, featuring collector number 77, showcases a unique art style consistent with the experimental nature of the Jumpstart series. The set was designed to be highly accessible, offering randomized, playable themed decks that combine classic reprints with new or stylized versions of established cards to encourage immediate, pick-up-and-play experiences for both veteran and novice players.
