Drain Life was released in 1993 as part of the Limited Edition Alpha set, the inaugural printing of Magic: The Gathering. Developed by Richard Garfield and published by Wizards of the Coast, the game emerged from a desire to create a portable, strategic experience that could be played between rounds of other tabletop games.
