Dryad Arbor

Dryad Arbor was first introduced in the Future Sight expansion in 2007 as a unique experiment in card design, functioning simultaneously as both a creature and a land. This unconventional mechanical identity forced players to reconsider standard board interactions, as the card could be destroyed by land destruction spells or summoning sickness rules usually reserved for creatures. Its inclusion in the set was intended to push the boundaries of Magic: The Gathering's rules engine by blurring the line between distinct permanent types.

The Time Spiral Remastered version, featuring art by Donato Giancola, highlights the card's nature as a sentient part of the forest. The illustration focuses on the dryad’s camouflage and seamless integration into the natural environment, reinforcing its mechanical status as a land that is also a personified guardian. This remastered edition was well-received by collectors and competitive players alike for its clean aesthetic and its role in reprinting a card that remains a staple in eternal formats for its utility as a fetchable mana source.
