Where it came from
Eager Construct was released in 2018 as part of the Battlebond set for Magic: The Gathering. This set was uniquely designed for the Two-Headed Giant format, emphasizing cooperative play between teammates. The card was crafted to fit this social, team-oriented environment, featuring an ability that triggers upon entering the battlefield to provide utility to both the player and their partner.
The illustration for Eager Construct was created by artist Igor Kieryluk, who depicted the automaton with a sleek, functional aesthetic consistent with Magic’s portrayal of constructs. The design goal was to reflect the creature's helpful nature within the game's mechanics, resulting in a piece that functions as a versatile, low-cost artifact creature well-regarded for its functional utility in Limited draft environments.
