Where it came from
Ellie, Brick Master was released as part of the Secret Lair x LEGO Bricktales collaboration in late 2023. This drop was designed to celebrate the synergy between the tactile, creative nature of Magic: The Gathering and the iconic aesthetic of LEGO, drawing directly from the art style of the video game Bricktales. The card features a unique artistic treatment that reimagines a Magic creature through the lens of brick-built construction, signaling a rare cross-brand partnership aimed at both long-term players and fans of LEGO architecture.
The card was conceptualized as a creative homage to the building process, with art that emphasizes the modular, interlocking elements of digital bricks. It serves as a mechanical reflection of assembly and construction themes common to both properties. Upon its release, the card received a warm reception from the community, largely due to its distinct, vibrant visual style which stood out significantly from traditional Magic card frames, marking it as a quintessential collector's piece within the limited-run Secret Lair series.
