What it does
All Sliver creatures have "tap: This creature deals 2 damage to any target and 3 damage to itself."
They evolved the ability to concentrate their neural activity into a single pulse, causing a disruptive but usually suicidal blast of psionic energy.

Where it came from
The Psionic Sliver was originally introduced in the 2006 Time Spiral expansion as part of a cycle of legendary creatures inspired by iconic mechanics. This particular iteration appeared in the Secret Lair Drop series, a specialized line of limited-edition cards curated by Wizards of the Coast. These drops often feature experimental art styles, serving as a platform for artists to reimagine established Magic: The Gathering creatures through a contemporary lens, shifting the visual language of the game away from its traditional fantasy roots.
The illustration for this edition was handled by the artist Justine Jones, who opted for a surreal and unsettling aesthetic that emphasizes the biomechanical nature of the Slivers. The design choices prioritize a clean, stark composition intended to highlight the hive-mind characteristics of the creature type. Upon its release in the Secret Lair series, the card was received as a stylistic departure, appealing primarily to collectors and players interested in high-concept, alternative-art versions of classic functional game pieces.
