Where it came from
The Elves front card is a component of the 2020 Magic: The Gathering Jumpstart release, a product designed specifically to facilitate a fast-paced, accessible draft-like experience. These front cards were created to help players quickly identify the themes of the randomized 20-card packs that comprise the set, ensuring that the disparate archetypes could be easily sorted and managed during the shuffle-and-play process.
The design of the card leans into the classic high-fantasy aesthetic traditional to the Elves creature type within the game. It functions as a visual shorthand for the deck's strategy, which emphasizes swarm tactics and rapid mana production. While not intended for standard competitive deck building, these cards have become distinct markers of the Jumpstart format's unique identity, valued by collectors for their role in defining one of the set's most iconic and enduring tribal themes.
