Provenance

Where it came from

The Elves front card from Jumpstart 2022 serves as the thematic anchor for the set's dedicated Elf-tribal booster pack. Released in late 2022, the Jumpstart format was designed to facilitate quick, accessible gameplay by allowing players to combine two pre-constructed packs into a ready-to-play deck. The card functions as a label for the pack, intended to showcase the classic fantasy aesthetic inherent to Magic: The Gathering's long-standing creature type.

The artwork for this card continues the tradition of vibrant, high-fantasy illustrations characteristic of the modern Magic era. It was designed to evoke the woodland harmony and elven architecture central to the archetype's identity, providing a cohesive visual identity for players opening the pack. Upon its release, the set was well-received by the player base for its ease of use and its ability to introduce new cards and reprints into a streamlined, shuffle-and-play environment.
