Elvish Berserker

The Elvish Berserker was originally released in the Scourge set in 2003 before being reprinted as part of the Ninth Edition core set in 2005. As a common creature, it served as a staple of the Green color identity, designed to showcase the aggressive, combat-focused nature of Elf tribal decks during the mid-2000s. Its mechanics rely on the number of creatures attacking, forcing opponents to decide between taking damage or blocking a potentially growing threat.

The artwork for this version was provided by Paolo Parente, a renowned illustrator known for his dynamic and muscular style within the fantasy and science fiction genres. Parente’s depiction emphasizes the raw, chaotic energy associated with the Berserker archetype, moving away from more ethereal portrayals of Elves toward a gritty, frontline combatant aesthetic.
