Provenance

Where it came from

Evelyn, the Covetous was released as part of the Streets of New Capenna set in 2022, a Magic: The Gathering expansion inspired by the art deco aesthetics of the 1920s and noir-influenced organized crime tropes. This specific version, identified as a promotional card with the collector number 184s, features a stylized art treatment intended to emphasize the character's role as a vampire mob boss within the city's glamour-obsessed hierarchy.

The character design reflects the set's central tension between opulence and corruption, portraying Evelyn as a figure of high status and predatory ambition. As part of the promotional run for the set, this card was produced to offer players and collectors an alternative visual aesthetic that aligned with the high-society theme of the New Capenna narrative. It was generally well-received by fans of the set for its thematic consistency and the distinctive flair of its showcase art style.
