Where it came from
Everythingamajig was released in 2017 as part of the Unstable set for Magic: The Gathering, an expansion designed by Mark Rosewater and his team to explore 'silver-bordered' or un-sets. These sets prioritize humor, experimental mechanics, and breaking the traditional rules of the game to create unique social experiences that do not conform to standard tournament play.
The card’s illustration was created by artist Christopher Rush, who was a foundational figure in the aesthetic development of Magic: The Gathering. The design features a whimsical, chaotic mechanical apparatus meant to represent the unpredictable nature of the set's central 'contraption' mechanics. Upon its release, it was well-received by fans of casual formats for its clever integration of the set's core chaotic theme.
