Fact or Fiction was originally introduced in the Invasion expansion in 2000, quickly establishing itself as a quintessential blue card advantage spell. Its design, which forces an opponent to split five cards into two piles for the player to choose between, creates a unique psychological game that balances high utility with interactive decision-making. Over the decades, it has remained a staple in formats like Cube and Commander for its ability to provide flexible card selection at instant speed.

The version from the Zendikar Rising Commander set features new artwork by artist Johannes Voss. Voss focused on capturing the essence of the spell’s mechanics, illustrating a mystical, ethereal process of sorting magical information. As part of a preconstructed deck release, this inclusion helped make the card more accessible to newer players joining the Commander format, maintaining its reputation as a reliable, skill-testing tool in deck building.
