Where it came from
Fae of Wishes // Granted was released in 2019 as part of the Throne of Eldraine set, a Magic: The Gathering expansion that drew heavily from Arthurian legend and classic fairy tales. This specific version, marked as collector number 44p, is a promotional variant featuring the 'storybook' showcase frame. This distinctive aesthetic, characterized by an ink-wash art style and decorative borders, was designed by the Wizards of the Coast art team to evoke the feeling of an ancient, illustrated manuscript, grounding the high-fantasy mechanics of the game in a folkloric context.
The card itself features a double-faced design typical of the set's adventure mechanic, where a creature can be played as a spell before entering the battlefield. The artwork for this card was created by Magali Villeneuve, a celebrated illustrator known for her ethereal and detailed character work within the game. Upon its debut, the card was well-received by competitive players for its unique ability to search for sideboard cards, while the showcase variant became highly sought after by collectors for its thematic cohesion with the set's fairy-tale motifs.
