Where it came from
Feldon, Ronom Excavator was released in 2022 as part of The Brothers' War expansion for Magic: The Gathering. The card was issued as a promotional variant, featuring the unique borderless art style characteristic of the set's high-profile promo releases. The character of Feldon is a central figure in the game's lore, famously mourning his late wife Loran, and this iteration portrays him during his time excavating the icy wastes of Ronom.
The artwork was illustrated by Aleksi Briclot, a prolific concept artist and illustrator known for his dramatic, atmospheric depictions of fantasy characters. Briclot’s design focuses on capturing the weathered, determined essence of Feldon amidst a desolate landscape, emphasizing the melancholic nature of his eternal search. The card was well-received by players and collectors alike, lauded for its evocative visual storytelling and its thematic connection to one of the game's most enduring tragic figures.
