Provenance

Where it came from

Fetid Heath was originally introduced in the 2008 Shadowmoor set as part of a cycle of hybrid mana lands. These cards were designed to provide flexible mana fixing for decks utilizing hybrid mana symbols, allowing players to filter colorless mana into colored mana combinations. The landscape depicted on the card draws from the gothic, eerie aesthetic of Shadowmoor, a plane defined by perpetual twilight and folklore-inspired horror.

This specific printing appeared in the 2024 Outlaws of Thunder Junction Commander set. The artwork was provided by the illustrator Daarken, who has been a consistent contributor to the game's visual identity for many years. In this iteration, the art was reimagined to fit the western-fantasy aesthetic of the Thunder Junction plane, moving away from the gloom of Shadowmoor to integrate the card into the expansion’s lawless, frontier-inspired thematic landscape.
