Flooded Strand

Flooded Strand originated as a land card in the 2002 Magic: The Gathering set Onslaught, serving as a functional cornerstone for competitive decks due to its ability to search for specific land types. The version designated as a 2018 Nationals Promo was produced as part of a series of promotional cards distributed to participants and high-ranking players at national-level tournaments. These promos were intended to reward competitive engagement and celebrate the community of tournament players by providing high-utility cards with unique, event-specific aesthetics.

The visual design of the Flooded Strand series often leans into the game’s high-fantasy themes, featuring swirling, elemental depictions of coastal environments. The 2018 promo iteration utilizes the updated modern card frame and specific art direction intended to distinguish these promotional versions from standard pack-inserted cards. These releases are typically well-regarded among collectors for their scarcity and the prestige associated with their acquisition through tournament play rather than traditional retail channels.
