Fodder Cannon

Fodder Cannon was originally released in the 1996 expansion set Alliances before being reprinted in Eighth Edition in 2003. As a core set, Eighth Edition served as a pivotal moment for Magic: The Gathering, marking the transition to the modern card frame design that improved legibility and aesthetic consistency across the game.

The illustration was created by artist Dan Frazier, whose work is synonymous with the early history of the game. The design emphasizes the card's mechanical utility as a sacrifice-based artifact, reflecting the gritty, industrial flavor of the artifact-heavy sets of that era. It was received as a functional, if situational, piece of equipment, primarily utilized in casual decks centered around token generation and sacrifice synergy.
