Fog

Fog was originally introduced in the Alpha edition of Magic: The Gathering in 1993, designed by Richard Garfield as a foundational green instant. As one of the game's earliest defensive tools, it was crafted to provide a low-cost, effective method for players to prevent all combat damage during a single turn, effectively buying time to stabilize a board state. Its inclusion in the Revised Edition ensured its continued presence in the core card pool, maintaining the card's status as a quintessential example of green's reactive philosophy.

The artwork for Fog was created by Sandra Everingham, who employed a minimalist, ethereal aesthetic that perfectly captures the card's mechanical function.
