Where it came from
For Each of You, a Gift is a scheme card released in the 2017 Magic: The Gathering product Archenemy: Nicol Bolas. This set was designed to revive the Archenemy format, a casual variant where one player battles a team of others while utilizing a specialized deck of oversized cards known as schemes, which provide powerful, game-altering effects.
The card features artwork by Clint Cearley, who was commissioned to capture the manipulative and deceptive nature of the Elder Dragon Nicol Bolas. The design focuses on the theme of 'forced cooperation' within the game's mechanics, encouraging the archenemy to offer resources to opponents in a way that ultimately serves their own long-term strategy. It remains a notable piece of the set's thematic effort to simulate the feeling of being the primary antagonist in a high-stakes duel.
