Provenance

Where it came from

The Fox token was released as part of the Modern Horizons 3 set in 2024, a Magic: The Gathering expansion specifically designed for eternal formats. It serves as a physical representation of the creature type generated by various cards within the set, such as Ocelot Pride, which relies on these tokens to track board state during gameplay.

The art was created by illustrator Matt Stewart, who contributed several pieces to the set. Stewart’s design focuses on a stylized, vibrant depiction of a fox, balancing the need for clear functional recognition during games with the distinct aesthetic identity found throughout the Modern Horizons series. The token was well-received by players for its clean utility and the high quality of the creature illustration.
