Where it came from
Genesis Wave was originally introduced in the Scars of Mirrodin expansion in 2010, designed as a centerpiece for green ramp decks. The card reflects the set’s central conflict between the natural world of Mirrodin and the invasive, metallic influence of the Phyrexians, representing a powerful surge of the planet's life force attempting to reshape reality. Mechanically, it captures the 'cascade' philosophy of the era, allowing players to pull a large volume of permanents directly from their library onto the battlefield.
The Foundations version, numbered 334, serves as a modernized reprinting of this iconic sorcery. As part of the Foundations set, which aims to provide a stable, long-term base for players, the card maintains its classic design while benefiting from updated formatting and frame treatments. It remains a hallmark of high-mana strategy, valued by players for its ability to generate an overwhelming board state in a single turn, confirming its status as a timeless staple in green-aligned decks.
