Ghostly Prison

Ghostly Prison was originally introduced in the Champions of Kamigawa expansion in 2004, designed to provide white decks with a defensive mechanism against aggressive, creature-heavy strategies. The card forces opponents to pay a mana tax for each creature they wish to send into combat, effectively taxing the board state and shifting the rhythm of a multiplayer game. It quickly became a staple in the Commander format, where its ability to discourage attacks while staying under the radar proved invaluable.

This specific printing comes from the Commander 2011 product line, the inaugural release of the standalone Commander deck series. Wayne England, a prolific and beloved illustrator within the Magic: The Gathering community, provided the artwork for this version.
