Glintwing Invoker was originally released in the 2003 Magic: The Gathering set Legions, designed as part of a cycle of common creatures featuring activated abilities that cost eight mana. These cards were intended to serve as late-game mana sinks in the Limited environment, providing players with powerful, game-ending effects if a match stalled long enough to generate the necessary resources. The 2023 Dominaria Remastered version features artwork by Jim Nelson, who updated the visual identity of the card while maintaining the creature's original mechanical role.
