Where it came from
The Guardian Sunmare, card number 15p, was released as part of the Aetherdrift Promos set. These promotional cards were distributed as prizes for tournament play and community events, serving as a way for the game's publishers to incentivize participation and reward high-level engagement within the local gaming store ecosystem during the Aetherdrift expansion cycle.
The visual design for this series was crafted to emphasize the ethereal, high-fantasy aesthetic characteristic of the Aetherdrift setting. Illustrators aimed to capture the luminosity and celestial themes associated with the creature, opting for a style that balanced intricate magical details with a clean, readable layout suited for competitive play. Upon its release, the card was well-received by collectors for its unique frame treatment and the thematic consistency it brought to the promo subset.
