Hedgewitch's Mask // Hedgewitch's Mask

Hedgewitch's Mask was released as part of the Innistrad: Midnight Hunt Art Series in 2021. This set was designed to showcase the intricate, gothic illustrations of the core expansion, celebrating the craftsmanship of the artists who defined the horror-themed setting. The cards are oversized, borderless prints that prioritize the visual experience of the artwork over the traditional gameplay functions associated with standard trading cards.

The artwork for this piece captures the rustic, ritualistic aesthetic of Innistrad’s human inhabitants, emphasizing the earthy and occult themes central to the set. Created by illustrator Zezhou Chen, the design draws on traditional folk-horror motifs to evoke a sense of protection and superstition. Upon release, these art cards were well-received by collectors who sought to appreciate the high-resolution detail of the illustrations without the distraction of card mechanics or text boxes.
