Holy Strength

Holy Strength was first introduced in the Alpha set of Magic: The Gathering in 1993, representing one of the fundamental white-mana enchantment cards of the early game. It was designed to provide a simple, effective buff to a creature's power and toughness, reflecting the thematic focus of the white color identity on protection and righteousness. The Revised Edition, released in 1994 as the third core set, maintained this classic design, which served as a staple for aggressive white-based decks during the game's formative years.

The artwork for the card was illustrated by Quinton Hoover, a prolific artist whose distinct, romanticized style defined much of the early Magic aesthetic. Hoover’s illustration depicts a figure draped in angelic light, capturing a sense of divine empowerment that mirrored the card’s mechanical purpose.
