Hydra

The Hydra token, numbered 10 in the Dominaria United Commander set, was released by Wizards of the Coast in September 2022 to support gameplay mechanics within the Magic: The Gathering ecosystem. These tokens serve as physical representations of board state elements created by specific spells or abilities, allowing players to track temporary creatures during matches. The design was produced to align with the return-to-Dominaria theme, emphasizing the high-fantasy aesthetic characteristic of the Magic franchise.

The artwork follows the standardized visual language developed by the creative team at Wizards of the Coast to ensure gameplay clarity and thematic cohesion across the set. While individual artists are commissioned for these pieces, these tokens are designed primarily for functional utility within the Commander format. The card was well-received by the player base for its role in maintaining a tactile, organized play environment while providing the high-quality illustrative style that the game's community has come to expect from supplemental token cards.
