Where it came from
In the Presence of Ages was released in 2023 as part of The Lost Caverns of Ixalan expansion for Magic: The Gathering. The card was designed as a thematic representation of the deep, subterranean history found within the set's central location, focusing on the connection between the current inhabitants of Ixalan and the ancient, geological forces that shaped the plane.
The artwork, illustrated by Marie Magny, depicts a serene and expansive view of the inner caverns, emphasizing the sense of scale and the ancient resonance of the environment. Within the game, the card serves as a narrative anchor for the set's exploration theme, and it was received by players as a evocative piece of world-building that bridges the gap between the game's mechanics and the lore of the Ixalan setting.
