Infernal Grasp // Infernal Grasp

Infernal Grasp was originally released as part of the Innistrad: Midnight Hunt expansion in 2021, serving as a staple black removal spell that thematically reflects the grim, gothic horror aesthetic of the Innistrad plane. This specific iteration belongs to the Innistrad Remastered Art Series, a collection designed to highlight the high-fidelity artwork featured on cards throughout the block's history, stripping away the traditional game frames to allow the illustrations to stand alone.

The artwork for this piece was commissioned to evoke the visceral, dark fantasy style synonymous with the Innistrad setting. These Art Series cards are intended for collectors who appreciate the cinematic quality of Magic: The Gathering illustration, focusing on the collaboration between the artists and the Wizards of the Coast art directors who define the plane's visual identity. The reception of these cards is generally positive among those interested in the artistic development of the game, as they provide a dedicated format for showcasing the detailed craftsmanship of the commissioned fantasy illustrators.
