Where it came from
Informed Inkwright was released as part of the Secrets of Strixhaven promotional set in 2021, a collection designed to highlight the magical academic theme of the Strixhaven: School of Mages expansion for Magic: The Gathering. This specific card was distributed as a promotional incentive, serving as a foil showcase piece that emphasized the game's focus on spellcasting and scholarly pursuit within its fictional university setting.
The card features artwork by illustrator Johannes Voss, who utilized his signature ethereal and atmospheric style to depict the essence of a student scribe. His design sought to capture the blend of ink-based magic and academic rigour central to the Silverquill college, earning praise from the community for its evocative lighting and the integration of classic fantasy motifs with the high-concept aesthetic of the Strixhaven plane.
