Where it came from
Inga and Esika were introduced as a legendary creature card in the March of the Machine set, released in 2023. This card depicts the alliance between Inga Rune-Eyes and Esika, God of the Tree, two prominent figures from the plane of Kaldheim, as they join forces during the Multiversal invasion. The design reflects the collaborative effort of the plane's inhabitants to defend their home against the Phyrexians, mechanics that emphasize synergistic token generation and card advantage.
The artwork for this specific promotional version highlights the dynamic partnership of the two characters, rendered with the high-fantasy aesthetic characteristic of Magic: The Gathering. As a promotional iteration, this card serves as a variant release meant to celebrate the narrative stakes of the March of the Machine storyline. It was received by the player base as a versatile commander and an effective support piece, noted for its ability to bridge different color identities within the game's broader meta.
