Where it came from
Inga and Esika were introduced as a legendary creature card in the 2023 Magic: The Gathering expansion March of the Machine. The set depicted a multiversal war against the Phyrexians, leading to unique pairings of characters from different planes. Inga, a seer from Kaldheim, and Esika, the god of the bridge, are combined here to represent the desperate alliance required to defend their home plane during the invasion.
The artwork for this promotional version, numbered 229s, showcases the distinct aesthetic style prevalent in the March of the Machine promotional releases, which often featured alternate borders or specialized frame treatments. The card design focuses on their utility as a mana-producing engine that rewards players for casting creature spells, reflecting their lore-based roles as providers of foresight and sustenance. It was received as a versatile tool for Commander format players looking to accelerate their board presence.
