Where it came from
The Inner Demons Gangsters card, numbered 57, is a collectible featured within the in-game universe of the 2018 PlayStation 4 title, Marvel’s Spider-Man. These cards represent the various factions and characters Spider-Man encounters throughout his patrol of New York City, serving as both a gameplay collectible and a stylistic tribute to the lore of the Spider-Man comic series. The card design leans into the urban, gritty aesthetic of the Inner Demons, the organized crime syndicate led by Martin Li, also known as Mr. Negative.
The visual language of the card reflects the distinct aesthetic developed by Insomniac Games for their iteration of the Marvel Universe. The design highlights the signature black and white stylized masks worn by the gang members, emphasizing the duality and corruption central to their narrative role. Within the context of the game, these cards are presented as commemorative items for the player to discover, rewarding exploration of the map and providing brief, encyclopedic context for the criminal organizations threatening the city.
