Where it came from
Invasion of Arcavios // Invocation of the Founders was released as a promotional card for the 2023 Magic: The Gathering set March of the Machine. This double-faced card depicts a climactic moment in the lore of the Multiverse, representing the desperate efforts of the Strixhaven University mages to repel the Phyrexians during the global invasion. It serves as a narrative centerpiece that highlights the unity and arcane heritage of the plane of Arcavios.
The card features artwork by Johannes Voss, a long-time contributor to the game known for his ethereal and painterly style. Voss designed the piece to convey the scale of the conflict, balancing the intense magical energy of the spell with the sweeping, catastrophic backdrop of the invasion. It was well-received by the player community for its mechanical complexity and its role in concluding the long-running arc of the Phyrexians' assault on the Multiverse.
