Ironclaw Orcs

Ironclaw Orcs were released as part of the Fourth Edition Magic: The Gathering base set in 1995. This set marked a significant transition for Wizards of the Coast, as it was the first base set to feature updated card frames and consistent black-bordered printing for international distribution, replacing the previous mix of white-bordered sets. The card itself represents the early design philosophy of the game, where efficient, low-cost creatures with minor downsides were staples of red aggressive decks.

The artwork for this card was created by Anson Maddocks, one of the original artists who defined the grim, high-fantasy aesthetic of early Magic.
