Jayemdae Tome

The Jayemdae Tome from the 1994 Summer Magic set, often referred to by collectors as 'Edgar,' represents a pivotal moment in the history of Magic: The Gathering. This set was produced as a replacement for the error-laden Revised Edition, intended to be a corrected printing for distribution. However, due to a series of logistical and printing complications, the majority of the stock was destroyed, making the surviving cards some of the rarest and most coveted artifacts in the hobby.

The artwork for the card was created by Dan Frazier, whose distinctive style defined many of the early artifacts in the game. Frazier sought to evoke a sense of ancient, arcane knowledge through the depiction of a weathered, mystical book. While the card functions mechanically the same as its counterparts in other early sets, the Summer Magic version is distinguished by its unique color saturation and specific typographical corrections that set it apart from the standard Revised Edition prints.
