As a member of the cycle of 'karoo' lands, it was designed to provide mana flexibility at the cost of a tempo disadvantage, forcing players to return a land to their hand upon play. The card was illustrated by Zina Saunders, who contributed a distinctively vibrant and atmospheric aesthetic to the Visions set.
