Krosan Verge

Krosan Verge was originally introduced in the Judgment expansion of Magic: The Gathering in 2002, designed to capture the flavor of the shifting, untamed landscape of the Otarian continent. The card features a unique utility-land mechanic that allows players to sacrifice it to search their library for both a Forest and a Plains card, placing them onto the battlefield tapped. This effect represents the earth itself expanding and bridging the gap between two distinct types of magical biomes.

The version from the Commander 2016 set features artwork by John Avon, a prolific landscape illustrator whose work has defined the visual identity of the game's basic lands for decades. His design focuses on a sweeping, lush vista that captures the verdant and holy aesthetic of the Krosan Forest. By the time of its 2016 reprinting, the card had become a staple in multiplayer formats due to its reliable mana-fixing and land-ramping capabilities, maintaining its status as a foundational utility piece for decks utilizing green and white mana.
