Late to Dinner // Late to Dinner

Late to Dinner is part of the Modern Horizons 2 Art Series, a specialized sub-set released by Wizards of the Coast in 2021. These cards were designed to highlight the high-fidelity illustrations commissioned for the expansion, presenting the artwork on the front without the standard game mechanics or borders found on playable cards. The series serves as a celebration of the creative process behind Magic: The Gathering, offering collectors a chance to appreciate the visual storytelling of contemporary fantasy illustrators.

The artwork for this piece was created by artist Igor Kieryluk, whose work is characterized by a high level of detail and a distinct sense of motion. His interpretation of the card's theme focuses on a macabre, supernatural scene that aligns with the necromantic nature of the spell being depicted. Within the collector community, the Art Series cards are noted for their high-quality stock and gold-stamped artist signatures, which were intended to evoke the feel of an artist's personal gallery print.
