Provenance

Where it came from

The Lightning Rager token was released in 2022 as part of the Streets of New Capenna Commander set for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. It was designed to support the mechanics introduced in the set, specifically cards that generate creature tokens to serve as temporary board presence in multiplayer Commander games.

The artwork for this token aligns with the set's art deco and prohibition-era aesthetic, characterized by the gritty, high-contrast style typical of the plane of New Capenna. Like most tokens in the set, it was illustrated to be functional and evocative, intended to represent the aggressive and volatile nature of the Rager creatures within the game's lore.
