Where it came from
Lockjaw, Slobbering Teleporter was released as part of the Marvel Super Heroes Commander set, a collection designed to integrate iconic characters from the Marvel multiverse into tabletop strategy gaming. The card features the Inhuman Royal Family’s loyal canine companion, known for his unique ability to transport others across vast distances through his teleportation powers. The set aimed to balance character-specific thematic abilities with mechanical utility, ensuring that creatures like Lockjaw felt distinct within the broader Marvel-themed gaming ecosystem.
The card’s design emphasizes the character's functional role in game mechanics, often focusing on board mobility and utility rather than raw combat power. Illustrated to capture his distinct bulldog-like appearance and imposing size, the artwork adheres to modern Marvel aesthetic standards prevalent in licensed tabletop products. Upon release, the card was generally well-received by players for its faithful representation of the source material's character dynamics, particularly his role as a tactical support unit for Inhuman-focused decks.
