Where it came from
Locust Spray originated in the Aetherdrift expansion, a set centered on the atmospheric hazards and aerial traversal of a high-altitude fantasy realm. Designed to mechanically represent a tactical deterrent against swarm-based threats, the card was conceptualized by the game’s core development team to offer players a niche utility option within the shifting landscape of the set’s environmental meta.
The visual identity of the card, crafted by long-time contributing artists, emphasizes the frantic movement of a localized cloud of pests contrasted against the sleek, wind-swept aesthetic common to Aetherdrift. Upon its release, it was noted by the player community as a quintessential flavor-focused inclusion, praised for its thematic consistency even as its specific tactical utility remained confined to niche deck archetypes.
